Just getting used to blogging
I want my blog to be about my day to day life and how I keep my mood swings under control. Medication plays a big part even though taking meds everyday is a chore and just a reminder that I’m not normal.
I’ve tried many different concoctions over the years but I’m taking three different types at present. I take Lithium which has some horrible side effects but luckily I’ve no none. I have blood tests every three months (if I remember). These tests are to measure the levels of Lithium in my blood to ensure its not too high because Lithium can become toxic.
I also take an Anti-psychotic. Quetiapine……this makes me very sedated and has to be taken at night. I don’t think I would be able to sleep without Quetiapine BUT this medication along with other Anti-psychotics are really bad when it comes to weight gain. In three years Ive put 3st 3lb on. I have tried everything to shift the weight. People often think I’m pregnant and its so very embarrassing. I eat well, go to the gym 3/4 times per week and I aim to do 10,000 steps per day. Lastly I take Diazepam for anxiety. I only take this when I need to and not everytday. Anxiety is a big part of my bipolar and I have to have coping strageries in place to manage it successfully.
