This is the first time I’ve made jam, its on my 2013 list.
We picked a lot and I mean a lot of blackberries from the woodlands where we live.
750g cooking apples chopped small, peeled of course
juice of two lemons
1.3kg of granulated sugar.
Put blackberries and apples in perserving pan (i used a large saucepan) with lemon juice and 100ml water. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until fruit in pulpy, stir every few minutes
stir in the sugar and heat until dissolved, bring to the boil and boil 5-10 mintues until setting point is reached (221c)
Leave to stand for ten minutes to let the fruit settle and ladel into sterlised jars and cover to set.
We had loads of fruit left so I made a Blackberry and aplle crumble which hubby burnt his mouth on straight out of the oven
